Tiziana Panizza
Communication Senior Adviser

Tiziana Panizza is a Communication Senior Adviser.
Today you find her often in Ethiopia where she is advising the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission on its communications strategy.
Tiziana Panizza has over 15 years experience in advertising, IT communications, planning–strategy, play-writing and social design. She has first hand experience of almost all key communications disciplines from generating the creative concept to its execution.
She began her career in the 1980s in Rome as a copywriter, working for world- renowned advertising agencies such as Saatchi & Saatchi, Ogilvy & Mother, Ata Tonic, and Armando Testa. She developed ad campaigns, storyboards, scripts for radio and TV ads.
In 1994, she left Rome to become Chief Strategist and Head of Creative Development at No-frontiere, the Siemens interactive design company based in Vienna (Austria). The focus of her new job was to create a bridge between technology and real life, helping companies, institutions, organizations and museums, such as LEGO, Siemens, Szwarowsky, BMW, ORF Broadcasting, the Freud Museum, Bank of Austria, IDLO, and the World Bank. Her goal was to enable them to build the capacity to interact in new ways through communications, networks and communications technology.
In 2003, she provided technical leadership for civic advocacy to a USAID-funded civil society project in Swaziland. The objective of the capacity-building based project was the creation and implementation of an awareness campaign to support comprehension, sharing, and dissemination of Swaziland’s Constitution in an effort to avoid civil war. That experience changed her focus and she became very interested in social communications.
Since then she uses communication techniques and media to display social actions which challenge the status quo. While the technical production of ad campaigns is linked to media and brands she regards the content as bound to social issues and people. And she has a major question. Can social design improve the world?
Communication is a process which makes a large number of human behaviors and actions possible. Social design is dedicated to bringing the best of communication thinking, design culture, and design strategies into some opportunities for a better living.
She lived one year in Cairo (Egypt), where she moved in January 2008 for a Sabbatical Year. In Cairo she attended an arabic language school, wrote articles, designed a communications campaign to empower relationships with mentally disabled (+Rosebud Project).
Tiziana Panizza has a Master Degree in Theater and Media Science at the Ludwig Maximilians University-Philosophy Faculty-of Munich (Germany).
